This original artwork is all handmade. From the wooden base to the collage parts, everything is done by me.
Pinkudreyma.welt is an art project created by German Mixed Media Artist Theresa Kohlbeck Jakobsen (non-binary). In the centre: Faroese motives like in this case the Varđi (stone landmark). Positioned on wood, canvas or paper these symbols of interconnection with nature carry the spectator off into an utopian dreamworld. The artworks compositions are a modern interpretation of a Nebra sky disc.
Works were exhibited in 2021 in Tórshavn & Fuglafjørður (FO), Hanoi (VN) and Bridgwater (UK). The latest exhibition at which this piece was displayed was in March 2022 in Regensburg (GER).
FØÐING was published in Spring break issue of the literary store magazine MOON COLA ZINE, which is still available digital on their website.
My process is devided in many steps. From cutting and sanding the wooden bases, to taking and editing photographs, printing and hand coloring them, putting together the collage on top of the wood, painting out the details and covering everything in a protective layer of ships varnish. Creating an artwork like this takes about a week because of the drying times.
The wooden base has a little hole inthe middle which makes it easy to mount it plain on a single nail. A hanger can be added on request.
