The Jewish Half Shekel and Shekel coin:

This coin is a recast of the authentic coin in my Greek coin collection. The famous Judaean Half Shekel and Shekel has a weight very close to this jewelry recast. At the time of the First Jewish Revolt against Rome (AD 66-70) these and many other coins were struck in solid silver originally.
The front or obverse side depicts the historically known Homers Cup or Chalice with a Hebrew Date and inscription in Aramaic, which translates to "Year 2".
The reverse side depicts a stem with 3 Pomegranate fruits and again the ancient Aramaic inscription all around which translates to "Jerusalem The Holy".
The Great Revolt began in the year 66 AD, originating in Roman and Jewish ethnic and religious tensions. The crisis escalated due to anti-taxation protests and attacks upon Roman citizens. The Roman military garrison of Judaea was quickly overrun by rebels and the pro-Roman king Agrippa II store fled Jerusalem, together with Roman officials to Galilee.
