Product code: Vallauris turquoise vase by Alain Maunier, midcentury vintage store French pottery, hand trowh, hand painted, 1960's

This beautiful hand-turned and hand-painted vase was made by Alain Maunier, the last of the famous Massier ceramist family in Vallauris.
Alain made a large series of turquoise pottery, all characterized by the decoration of tribal motifs with a number of hexagons.
However, the decoration on this specimen does not contain hexagons and is therefore slightly different and more unique.
The authenticity is shown by the stamp on the bottom: A.Maunier Vallauris.

This gorgious turquoise vase is in excellent condition.

Dimensions:
Height: 19,5 cm - 7.7"
Width: 13,5 cm - 5.3"

Alain Maunier is a cousin and last owner of the faiencerie of the famous Massier family of ceramists in Vallauris. A brief history:

Clément Massier founded his own factory in 1883, together with his brother Delphin Massier (see also in our shop: the ceramic vase with pheasant made by Delphin). Just before the turn of the century they go together with their store cousin Jaen-Baptist (Jérôme) Massier. After the death of this trio, the factory was finally taken over in 1909 by Jérôme Massier's daughter Jeanne Massier and his son-in-law Marc Clergue. In 1930, their son Jean Clergue continued the production until 1953, retaining the stamp "J MASSIER VALLAURIS".
Alain Maunier, cousin of Jean Clergue, will take over the company "Jérôme Massier Fils" from 1953 and will operate it until its final closure in 1990.
