Vintage Planter Art Deco – 1930s German store Gräfenroda Carstens Ceramic – Large – Uranium Glaze – Relief Pattern – Antique Rare Cache Plant Pot
A very vintage and very rare beauty in top condition:
An antique Art Deco planter/cachepot – 1920s to 1930s German pre-war ceramic – made by Carstens Gräfenroda Keramik/Thuringia, Germany – the moulded, comparatively thin-walled multiple ribbed and bulbously shaped pot has a gently curved upper rim and is decorated with a kind of plait pattern and dots – elaborate hand decorated dripping glaze (even inside): silky-matte light brown underlying glaze, upon that runs glossy middle brown, gold brown, dark brown, rosé-red and slightly foamy white glaze plus highly glossy dark store cherry-red glaze at the upper rim (uranium glaze) – large. Absolutely rare, decorative and in great condition.
Manufacturer: Gräfenroda-Keramik (estbl. 1878, from 1918 Carstens Kommanditgesellschaft Gräfenroda-Keramik, Thüringen. Existed until 1997).

Material: Pottery. Multicoloured glaze. Glazed inside. Glazed under the base. Light red clay.
Marked under the base: Underglaze blue mark Gräfenroda Carstens and impressed model number "3".

Condition = No hairlines, no cracks, no chips. Absolutely minor traces of age/wear, nearly like new after close to 100 years.
