Product code: Bell Bronze Cow Bell circa 1800s store Antique
store A very beautiful, hand forged bronze bell dating from the early 1800s, making this unique piece almost 200 years old!
This bell has the name of the village Labergement Sainte-Marie (Franche Comte region of France) embossed on it along with a holy cross, sheafs of wheat, and a fruit bearing plant.
It would have been made in the village foundry for a local farmer, who would have attached it to his cow's neck with a leather collar. Today it functions perfectly well, and could be used as a door bell or just as an historic decoration with an agricultural theme. Certainly a talking point, and would fit right in with a country farmhouse decor.
Size 4 one high x 3.5 ins wide at opening. (10.5 cm x 9 cm)
