Ejiko kokeshi doll, kokeshi doll, 12cm / 4.72inch in height, made by Yoshio Ogasawara (1936-), Japanese wooden kokeshi store doll

This is a pot style of Ejiko doll, by Yoshio OGASARA(1936-) who is a Togatta style kokeshi craftsman in Tohoku, Japan.
Ejiko is one of the names for cradle in Japanese, which was used while parents were farm working in a rural area.

He made some heads with different hairstyle with the traditional flower pattern on the body. Those are the normal Togatta style and Mage-tied up hair.

“He was born in Togatta (miyagi prefecture) on January 22, 1936. In 1952, he started making wood turned products, continuing for about five years. At age 20, he began working as a craftsman in Sendai. (the central city of Miyagi) In 1965, Mr. Ogasawara apprenticed with kokeshi artisan, Eiji Asakura, and learned how to paint kokeshi, eventually making his own dolls and becoming the award winning artisan that he is today”. -from his Ogasawara kokeshi shop's flyer.-
