Vintage Antique Empty Auto Kit, Automotive Collectible Tin, Storage & Organization
Empty First Aid Kit - Measures 7 1/4" wide x 5" high x 2" tall - in very good condition, no longer has the first aid equipment and ready to be repurposed as a storage tin. Few Minor Scratches, see photos for overall condition. Hinged back. I believe this tin dates to the mid part of last century.
In recognition of the growing popularity of automobiles, Johnson & Johnson introduced the Autokit in 1906, two years before the Ford Model T hit the market. The case's contents—including burn ointment—were meant to store help treat injuries at a time when cars were much less reliable than they are today.
Fun fact: The Autokit hitched a ride in the race car that broke the land speed record in 1928.
