ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This is so cool that it's hard to put it all into words. What we have here is a coin purse in the shape of a man and woman in traditional folk costumes from Peru. While they make just look like little floppy dolls, there are actually holes on their backs where you can put coins or other small things like lipstick, a tissue, etc. and their entire bodies are fillable space. Yes, you can fill up her skirt and his baggy pants with whatever fits through the holes! The dolls are attached by a string that gets hung over a belt so that they hang around your waist. Personally I wouldn't overload them as I wouldn't want to stretch them out or put too much weight on the string, but hard to beat in terms of a unique fashion accessory! The woman doll has a bag over her shoulder that is actually made as a bag so you could put something tiny like a multivitamin/pill in it if you wanted. This purse was deaccessioned from a museum collection and their are museum number tags sewn under the back flaps of their shirts. You can see the tags by lifting the flaps and if they bother you you can easily unstitch them, but I think they add to their history and charm. I've never seen another similar pair so don't miss out on this unique opportunity to own the coolest purse in town!

Each doll measures about 10" long.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition with minor red color transfer between the stripes on the shirts.

A note regarding condition: All of the costumes and textiles that I sell are vintage and have typically seen decades of use resulting in expected wear and tear that add to the history and authenticity of each piece. In case of above-average wear, I will mention any significant damages and heavy signs of use. Depending on the age, materials, and condition, I often hand-wash more durable, colorfast cotton and linen textiles, but embellished garments, heavier wool pieces or items made from silk or fine fabrics are sold in the original, unwashed condition. Small holes or stains, missing sequins/beads, worn trim, and other marks related to standard wear are common and do not detract from the value of most pieces. Please keep in mind that a vintage textile or garment in very good condition might still show signs of use, storage and age.

Not sure about the condition? Need more photos? Sure! Etsy allows up to 10 photos online, but I often have more images available so please send an e-mail request for more.

I am located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA) and local shoppers are invited to view or try on items in person before buying. Many other garments are available so please don't hesitate to email your specific requests.
