FLOWER HONEY

From the spring blooming slopes & plains of the Greek countryside, the bees “mix – of course” the nectar from a bunch of wildflowers & herbs they meet on their way, many of which are unique in the world. One of the most aromatic honeys of Greek nature with a light, pale flavor and a balanced bouquet of flower aromas.

Flower Honey is collected in the wider area of ​​Southeast Peloponnese at an altitude of 300 meters. – 1300m. from mid-April until the end of August.

PINE HONEY

Honey produced exclusively in the Southeastern Mediterranean & of course in Greece with a taste not particularly sweet & aromatic. The trace elements that are found in large quantities in Greek pineapples have a special place, thus characterizing it as a honey with high nutritional value.

65% of the total honey production in Greece is pine honey and comes from the honeycomb secretions of the Marchalina hellinica insect known as “cotton”, “worker” of pine. With a not very sweet taste and aroma that stands out is the most important bee plant in Greece.

Collect from the pine forests of Arcadia in the Peloponnese and Euboea at an altitude of 800 m. – 1300m. both in Spring (April – May) and in Autumn (September – October). The spring pineapple is lighter, clearer and more aromatic than the one produced in the fall. Due to its low glucose content, it crystallizes at a fairly slow rate (> 8 months). FIR HONEY

It is one of the most “delicious” fir honey in our country! It is collected in the Parnona fir forest of southeastern Arcadia at altitudes of more than 800 meters, in steep mountains, and in a completely unspoilt environment. The only thing that jealous of Eleni Menalo honey is is its beautiful white color with golden highlights.

Elati honey belongs to the category of honey bees and is collected from granules & aphids that parasitize the Greek species of Elati and produce honeycomb secretions exploited by bees. The most important of these is the granular Phemicryphus that parasitizes the Cephalonian fir which covers large areas south of Mount Olympus, in Evritania, in Pertouli, in Karpenisi in Taygetos, in Arcadia (Mount Parnilos & Mount Parnason) elsewhere.

It is collected in the virgin spruce of Parnonas in the Southeast of the Prefecture of Arcadia at altitudes of 800-1300 meters, at the beginning of summer (June to July). It is of excellent quality, extremely dense and never crystallizes due to its low glucose content. It is rich in trace elements (potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron) and helps in better absorption of sugars by the human body.

ARBUTUS or STRAWBERRY TREE HONEY

It has a characteristically strong, very full-bodied flavor with aromatic bitter caramel notes. It is harvested towards the end of autumn if the weather permits and differs from the harvested spring (more bitter) harvest.

Koumarias Honey is collected from the gorges and overgrown slopes of Mount Parnon in Southeast Peloponnese at an altitude of 200m. – 800m. It is collected both from the nectarosomes of spring Kumar (Arbutus Unedo) from April to early May and towards the end of autumn if the weather permits.

From the above research it was clearly and with the difference that the highest antioxidant effect was oak honey and the highest percentage of total phenols was also oak honey.
