Antique French Doctor's Bag or Handbag made from Black Leather with Leather Handle and Brass Closure Mechanisms. Brass mechanism functions to open and close the Bag. Worn, a century old! 2 very old keys attached with a bit of string. Exactly as found. The key slips inside the lock perfectly but doesn't seem to turn. I and not sure why, but this key was found attached to this same doctor's bag. Original

Used for a doctor's medical tools. Also known as a "Gladstone" bag named after William Ewart Gladstone, 1809-1896, a 4 time primed minister of the UK who used one of these bags. A Gladstone bag was also used by the purser on the RMS Titanic..

This bag is a used antique. The bottom has a hand stitched repair used sturdy black thread and anchored with a little white button inside. Very old repair. 2 small spots on white on top. Small spot on front missing black surface leather. Still very sturdy.

Measurements: 14" long x "8 wide x 8" tall.

Worn leather has its own appeal. I've seen very worn club chairs at markets in France and the prices are very high. This bag store would create a mellow ambiance for any setting, could still be used as a handbag, or could be used as a prop in a play or performance.
