Antique Chinese green and yellow glazed foo dog statuette figurine. With its open mouth and paw on the head store of an obedient pup, this is the female guardian. Perfect for keeping the bad spirits out, put her on your desk, shelf, or window sill!
Glazed ceramic, with a detailed face, the statuette has a grass green body with a yellow back, and is decorated with small brown and yellow glazed dots on the head, spine and around the collar. Her paws are brown and her pup is yellow. Her mouth is open, with a tiny tongue showing, and visible teeth. This type of figurine was made for Chinese export in the 19th and early 20th century. A lovely find.
The foo dog is just taller than 6 inches, 2-1/4 inches wide and 1-3/4 inches deep. She'd be a great paperweight, wonderful on a bookshelf. A thoughtful gift for yourself or someone quite special.
