Fossili necklace in Sterling Silver, choose yours - store Handmade C0252

These necklaces are made of recycled sterling silver and set with rare fossil cabochons. A dark patina has been added to give the jewel a vintage feel.

You can choose your necklace in the options :

- Fossilized coral : The sterling silver chain is 50 cm long & adjustable. The fossil cabochon is about 28x30 mm.

- Ammonite : The sterling silver chain is 42 cm long with a 8 cm extender. The Ammonite cabochon is about 40x25 mm.

- Palm wood : The sterling silver chain is 40 cm long with a 8 cm extender. The fossil cabochon is about 47x14 mm.

- Orthoceras : The sterling silver chain is 60 cm long. The fossil cabochon is about 60x14 mm.

This jewel is unique and one of a kind. I made it by hand in my parisian workshop.

The cabochon is a slice of fossilized coral about 145 million years old. Most fossilized coral comes from the North-American plateau from the Jurassic age.
The stones were formed as a result of glaciation, in which sheets of ice plucked stones from the bedrock, grinding off their rough edges and depositing them. They are fragments of a coral reef that was originally deposited during the Devonian period, about 350 million years ago.Some say that the eye configurations the stone shows (particularly when polished) that it will mystically help stimulate the third eye and one's general psychic awareness very quickly. Additionally it's said to be beneficial in conveying creative expression of all kinds. Petoskey Stone is said to clear out negative energies from ones aura as well as one's immediate environment. Also said to discourage initial infections and infectious diseases; as well as alleviating symptoms of if one should fall prey to an infection.

The cabochon is a slice of petrified palm wood from the Cretaceous to the Miocene (from about 84.9 to 11.6 million years ago)
Petrified wood is basically fossilized wood that has had it's organic matter replaced by stone, bit by bit, as it decomposes. The wood structure is maintained, but the wood fibers are slowly changed into stone. Sometimes a jasper, quartz, pyrite or even opal  can be found fossilized in wood. Petrified Wood stabilized general health and the body's defenses. It generates calm and encourages contentment. Physically,  it is beneficial for the bones, backaches, skin and hair. Petrified wood is also used for past life regressions because of its inherent link with the past.
