2.5ctw Moissanite Solitaire with Black Diamonds. Moissanite is 8mm, crystal clear, with an amazing blue hue when it hits the light just right. Has two prong set tiny round black diamonds - one at each each side of the Solitaire. Stamped 925. Size 7. Purchased from local Artisan. NWOT Look how breathtaking when wrapped by black Spinel bands! (listing for Solitaire-bands not included) What is Moissanite? It was discovered by Dr. Moissan after finding a small meteorite. It was then recreated in a lab store and was brought to the fine jewelry business in '98. It was hard to differentiate between Moissanite and Diamonds when Moissanite first came out because it tested positive for a Diamond on the diamond testers. The testers needed to be recreated which was difficult because they measure the heat in a stone. Sometimes the best way to tell if a stone is Moissanite is by it's refractive index. Moissanite can really out shine a diamond because it has more fire giving off a greater rainbow effect.
