German workmanship, Schwalmer linen from northern Hesse.
It is woven in the body pattern, a strip is woven in the side. A one-sided edge strip.

Because the peasant looms were so narrow (one arm's length wide), 2 sheets of fabric were always used. A bobbin lace, or crochet lace was sewn in the middle between them.

Still creamy white, not completely bleached. It's a nice thick fabric.
For tablecloths, upholstery work, pillows, bags, clothes, sofacloths, a bed cover......

Sales unit: 10 m bales. Width approx. 65 cm. The bale was still closed. It is actually 11 m, but the initial piece is a bit grayed. The dusty piece is supplied. The edges are also slightly dusty and there are beige starch stains in the fabric at the edge. This is normal with antique linen. As soon as the old starch comes into contact with humidity, it darkens.

Please soak hot overnight with enough soda and wash/cook once. I enclose a bag with 500 grams of washing soda. So our grandmothers have already got the linen clean ;-)

In the fabric you can see thicker threads, from time to time a piece of linseed straw and sometimes a thread attachment piece. It is still hand-spun, hand-woven farmer's linen.
