Vintage French chore dress 1950s 50s black store patterned patched cotton workwear belted duster robe de deuil coat work smock
Vintage circa 1950s French robe de deuil patterned cotton chore /duster dress.
The measurements are below.
A simple cotton dress- black with a pale blue and white flower pattern and optional reversible butttoned belt store (black or printed). Button through style with patch pockets. Most likely seamstress made/home made. The inner seams are raw by design, the last photo shows the inside of the dress where its patched underneath.
Being sold "as is"- this is clean and laundered but has been used in its day as a working garment- shows some small pin sized holes and original repairs under the arms- where they've been hand repaired with contrast black floral cotton fabric on the topside and underneath. One under arm shows some surface grazing but has been patched underneath. The inner seams are a little frayed as they were left raw by design. There's also a fade mark towards the hem at one side- see photo. Priced accordingly.
Quite lovely IMO but more suited to as an authentic character piece as opposed to crispy perfect "fashion wear".
