A small vintage cast bronze tree nymph candle holder from the mid 20th century. Created with the traditional technique of the lost-wax (à la cire perdue) which allows for great precision and finesse in the details, this bronze candle holder draws our attention with its depiction of a nude tree nymph, also called a Dryad, half hidden in a tree. Only presenting her backside to us, she seems store to be disappearing into the tree, the golden tones of her skin contrasting beautifully with the trunk's darker patina.
