Antique Jug, Ruckel's store #2 Stoneware Shoulder Jug, Ruckels Jug, Antique Ruckels Jug, Collectible Jug, Crocks and Jugs, Antique Crocks and Jugs
This is for an antique Ruckel's 2 Gallon Stoneware Shoulder Jug with cork. Used, likely 80 to 100 years old. In good condition. 9 1/4 inches wide and 13 inches tall. This is a very unique piece. This company started out in central Illinois. The original founder, John Neff Ebey, came to Illinois and opened his pottery in 1826. He made mostly jugs for beverages. He refused to sell his pottery to saloons, unlike most other potters. Later on, one of John's descendants put the words "Prohibition Forever" on some of his jugs. I have no idea exactly how old this piece is. However, it is very unique. This piece, as with most 80 to store 100+ year old stoneware does have a few nicks, bumps and bruises. That's part of being what it is. It definitely is a survivor and would b e a great display/decorator piece for you bar, cabin, lodge or man cave.
