1960's MCM Original Flattened Vase Form by Listed Nevada Potter Mercer G. Ryan (1905-1988) of Reno SIGNED perfect for the decor store and more
The Charlie B Gallery of Carson City, Nevada is offering this flattened MCM vase form with decoration for sale. Mercer G. Ryan was a member of the Nevada Clay Arts Guild, which was founded by John Charles Karrasch (1934-2010). The rumor about Mercer is that she kept a small kiln in her bedroom that she fired. A portion of Mercer's exhibition record includes: Nine Designer-Craftsmen, Nevada Art Gallery, Reno, Nevada, 1965.
This vase is signed Merce(her known signature) with a 9, which might be a date code. There is volcanic activity in the glaze in the top area of the form and rim. I show this in the photography. There appears to be one relatively hard to detect small flake/chip at the store side of the foot that blends rather nicely. The foot shows some factory crudity in its construction. I do not detect any other condition notes. This vase has a nice ring and shows nicely. All fragile merchandise is shipped using the "double box" process.
