Stella Maris or Star of the Sea is a title for Mary that dates back to the 4th and 5th century to St. Jerome. He translated the name of Mary from Hebrew and other sources to mean Star of the Sea. The devotion to Our Lady, Star of the Sea really took hold in the medieval period and was written about in the 5th, 8th and 9th centuries. In the 12th century St. Bernard of Clairvaux wrote "If the winds of temptation arise; if you are driven upon the rocks of tribulation look to the star, call on Mary. If you are tossed upon the waves of pride, of ambition, of envy, of rivalry, look to the star, call on Mary. Should anger, or avarice, or fleshly desire violently assail the frail vessel of your soul, look at the star, call upon Mary."

These beautiful prints are compositions based on a real photos of the statue of Mary, Star of the Sea. The statue was used as a template but the image has been completely altered and redesigned. The statue of Mary has been redesigned to offer a unique look. Pictured here Mary is standing on the ocean waves with a guiding star behind Her. She is the guiding star which leads us to Christ. This card has been designed to honor the Mother of Jesus and to glorify God through veneration of Her.

Print comes in a hand painted gold frame. The frame is plastic and delicate and the print is behind glass. The back of the frame includes a golden saw tooth hanger for easy hanging on the wall.

The store print is a unique size 7in x 14in printed with vibrant colors.

The frame has been hand spray painted with metallic gold paint to match and enhance the print. Outside frame size is 7 ¾ in X 14 ¾ in.
