Vintage SELRO Style Antiqued Gold Clown Face Earrings with Faux store Turquoise | Rare and Collectible 1950s Jewelry | Free Gift Box and Tag

These beautiful, eye-catching, and rare vintage Selro style clip-on earrings feature three faux turquoise stones radiating from a central white pearl and interspersed with three gold-toned clowns in cone-shaped hats that are reminiscent of the Pierrot character of French pantomime. In turn, these elements are separated by sequences of small faux pearls and faux rubies.

The earrings have a good weight to them, and the metal has an antiqued gold-tone finish, which adds extra depth to the other elements. In excellent vintage condition, the only minor issue is that one faux ruby crystal has been replaced by a clear crystal — however, this is almost unnoticeable. (You can see this in the main photo of store the earring at the right, at about the 1 o'clock position.)

ABOUT SELROThe Selro Corporation was founded by Paul Sellinger in NYC in the 1950s. Selro jewelry is highly collectible due to its striking designs of silver-toned, antique silvertone filigree, and gold-toned base metals. The design clusters utilized clear and beautiful colored rhinestones, faux pearls, lucite and plastic stones, and glass moonstones. Selro also produced devil and figural images and faces that included dragons, Asian faces, black Oriental, Siamese or tribal and warrior's faces, as well as princess faces with headdresses and flowers. Much of his work is unsigned as a hang-tag was normally attached. The company ceased operations in the 1960s.
